— Somebody about me
“Just tell him to come back, please.”
2019
There are guys that chase the rainbow. Others just slide in it. Samuel is permanently a creative person. It’s not really a job; it’s the way he lives. More than all the things he has already achieved as a creative, the important fact is to understand that he breathes it. The interests in his personal life are continuously stimulating him and creating a seamless flow of evolution. Maybe you can teach creativity, but you can hardly teach talent. And you are better off not doing it. Some talent just needs a little space to be unleashed and will not bloom when conditioned too soon.
He is an image-maker. Not specifically a designer or an art director. In 10 years working with me he has done everything. From (never very much) traditional advertising campaigns to brand design development, original brand experiences and activations to digital engagement.
Virtuously designing, illustrating, art directing, animating, editing and thinking.
And he has worked the biggest clients he could have in Portugal. From multinationals like coke to big energy, from mass consumption to the most Avant-Garde art and cultural projects. He has learned from the best, including the “fathers of commercial design in Portugal”. He knows about pressure, he knows sacrifice, he knows dedication, and he knows loyalty. And he is fun. Intelligently fun.
Samuel is an idea chaser that is always looking for the least beaten path. His artistic pride takes him there. And from there you can then build anything. Sometimes it even seems random. But his method is there and if you pay attention you´ll see the magic and work the magic. Diversity and multidisciplinary is his game but he can work his focus on more standard projects as well.
There´s a major advantage in his method. First he draws his inspiration from virtually anything, virtually all the time. From visual art, music, cinematography, digitalism, science. Then he feeds his peers and the team with his research and his visual and conceptual ambitions. He’s a force of nature in a team. A creative and personal one.
Losing him here has created one of those empty spaces we will never really fill up. You can’t replace purity and uniqueness. So if you could be so kind not to hire him and send him back to his people we would be much obliged.
Thank you.
